would like to work away from my desk, but play music from my powerbook thru my stereo...

I was going to post the same exact thing. I was actually wondering if one of those Ipod radio transmitters would work. I hope somebody responds with some info!

I think the consensus is that it is possible but the sound is anywhere from not very good to unlistenable static.

You can always buy an uber-cheap used laptop (~$80) and have that be your jukebox...

You didn't mention a budget.

Slimp3 and wireless bridge?

ah, google. just looked up slimp3...
interesting.
about $220 for that, maybe $115 for a wireless bridge...

maybe better to buy an ipod, use that.
more fun uses for an ipod.

Check out the Kima KS-110. It's wireless and broadcasts over 900 MHz range which is the same as cordless phones. There is a base unit that connects to your computer and a remote unit that you connect to your stereo. I have it and it works. The sound quality is not bad, about the same as the radio.

No. There are two units. You plug in the base unit to the audio out jack on your computer. You then plug in the remote unit to your stereo/receiver/amp through an rca input. Do you have an rca input on your stereo?

someone needs to figure this out, a usb or bluetooth thing.

Actually the gadget above was wireless, as is the iRock.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...79349?v=glance

It plugs into your audio out and broadcasts to any fm receiver. I'm iPodless, so I often drive around listening to my iTunes out of my iCar stereo. It's also nice to have an iGo to stay "juiced up"!

There's others like this. I just happen to have the iRock. It works inside on my home stereo as well.

Hmm. Interesting but not very "sound" advice since you cannot "go with" something that is unavailable.
