Hi,

I've read a lot about the problems with "white spots" on the new Powerbook (15) screens. I noticed that on my screen (when it's sleeping) that directly in the middle there is a slight white spot. It's not visible when the screen is on. It's also directly behind the Apple logo. So naturally I assumed that it was just a reflection of light behind the screen through the Apple logo. If it were a "real white spot" wouldn't I see it when the dispay was on?

Does it sound like I have the problem? Did anyone ever take a photograph of a screen with the white spots?

Thanks!

Cheers,
John

Yup, sounds like it's just light seeping through your Apple logo. To do a check, just get a flashlight and put it up to the Apple logo, if the bright spot appears where your white spot is, it's most likely just light passing through the logo.

As for someone posting pictures of the white spots, there are some somewhere around here. Try running a search.

It was Filmmaker2002 who posted pictures.

The light-shining-through-the-Apple thing is different than the white spot issue.

It doesn't sound like you have the problem... be glad! That pic is from the unit Apple replaced, but the new unit has some white spots growing that weren't there when it arrived... hopefully they don't get any worse.
