If I buy a PB next week (Oct. 15th), will Panther be already installed on it when I receive it? If not, will I have to order the upgrade seperately and pay a fee (although minimum like 20 US$)?

I am a switcher that wants to understand.

According to reports, after Oct.24, systems will ship with a Panther 'kit'. Which could mean an upgrade disc. It might be a good idea to call Apple and see if they have an answer.

If nothing else, you will qualify for the 'free' upgrade.

Nobody's officially getting Panther before the 24th--so you'll have to do the $19 thing.

I'd wait until AFTER the 24th, and then make sure you aren't getting a "last week's" model. It should then have Panther in the box. Maybe not pre-installed yet, but the install is easy.

I ordered my eMac the day Jaguar came out, and Apple said I'd have to send away for Jaguar. But lo and behold, it WAS in the box!
