To those owners who have experienced warping, did Apple repair your computers?

I have the 'textbookexample' of case warping (albeit slight) on the slim metal piece above the latch button...what I am describing here is that the metal above the latch release button is protruding outward...so if I directly look at the PB from above I can see a visible hump right above the latch release button....

Also I have the classic separation of the plastic corner trim from the side metal on the 'latch side' of the PB right below the right hand palm rest...it is wide enough that I can slip my finger nail under...

Anyone have these problems and anyone have them fixed by Apple...? My PB was purchased at the Apple Store in July so it is still under warranty...

Does anyone have any pics of their warped PBs...?

TIA>..

I just received my Powerbook back from service last week for a very similar problem (and got it fixed). I had a hump protruding from the front right corner of my Powerbook. It's in the same area height-wise as your description just below the plastic trim.

Unfortunately I deleted the pictures since my issue was resolved, but it was fairly noticeable and I would say if you sliced a dime in half it would slide right in.

Tech support put me on the phone with a "product specialist" since I argued that the changing temperatures caused the problems, since I hadn't taken my laptop off my desk since August, and the temperature was swinging from 40 deg F to 80 deg F within a 6 hour period. That was the only rational cause I could come to since it hadn’t been anywhere else and one morning when I booted it up, there was the hump!

Apple was willing to send out a box and take a look, but made no guarantees on repairing it, though I truly believe that it was a materials or structural defect. They ended up replacing the bottom half of the casing and it looks brand spanking new. And to top it off the battery is 99% flush with the case. You can still feel a slight difference in height, but nowhere near as pronounced as before.

If you haven’t done anything physically to cause this hump I don’t see a reason why they shouldn’t fix it. As a side note, I think they could clearly tell it wasn’t dropped since this hump was right smack in the middle of the machine and both the LCD casing and the plastic trim were perfectly fine. Perhaps they make no guarantees so they can take a look at if first and if they found wrongdoing on the customers part, call and give you a price quote

Happy to say that I'm very pleased with Apple's service on resolving my issue.
Are those free-ranged animal crackers?
