I just picked up the adc -> dvi converter as expensive as it is. Its a great little piece of equipment. I now can run my PB with the lid closed on my 20" cinema display.
No degradation of image quality, in closed mode, spanning or mirroring. There was some talk that some monitors the image wasn't too good on the new 15" al.

One question or rhetorical question. Why does Apple put a adc connector on its PBs and DVI on its Powermacs. (other then to sell the converters) Is it a power consumption issue?

Thanks
Mike

I think you have it 'round the wrong way: the connector on a 15" PowerBook is a DVI connector. Power Macs have both: DVI and ADC. I suspect that Apple puts DVI connectors on the PBs because this is standard connector that works with the majority of LCDs - albeit not Apple LCDs.

Actually, an ADC connector is just a DVI connector with USB and power cables all connected into the same cable. The reason it isn't on the Powerbooks is that there is likely too much electricty draw for the battery to handle!
