Hello,
I am using the latest version of OS X on my 12 inch G4 Powerbook. I have a cable connection, but would also like to configure a dial up as well, so that I can connect when away from home. Can someone please help me do this? Thanks, Robert.

It's very simple to do: Just setup a new Location in the Network Prefs. Use the drop down menu to enable the internal modem and disable everything else (ie turn off ethernet and airport.)

Enter your network settings (DNS etc) and specify your user name and passwork (unless you want to enter it yourself every single time.) I believe there's also a checkbox that allows you to see internet connect in the menubar.

You can setup a new location for every city you go to frequently.

It is even easier if you have both the devices turned on in the same location. In network setup in system preferences select the location that contains your cable modem (probably Automatic) and then choose Internal modem from the Show selection. If you don't have internal modem there, go to "Network Port Configurations" and check Internal modem. Then you can configure the modem. Once you have done that you can dial up whenever you want, but your cable modem will still work

Hello,
Thanks to both of you. I made the proper adjustments and all is well. Network Port Configurations, just had to make sure Internal Modem was at the top. Thanks again.

James.
