The eject key on my new AlBook requires considerable pressure to activate. It there a DIY fix for this. I would hate to send back my PB because of one key? The key is obviously not level, but neither is my up arrow key which works fine.
It I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you.

I can't really help, but try the support site at apple.com.
Just a thought.

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!

this is probably a stupid suggestion, but you have to hold the eject key down for a second or so before it will activate (to prevent accidental ejecting), so maybe you're pressing it harder until it activates, not due to your harder pressing, but to the timer? that's the only thing i can think of other than a broken keyboard

I just tried holding down the key for several seconds at the normal pressure required to activate the other keys on my PB: no cigar.

If it is the keyboard, can this be repaired at the apple store, or will it have to go back to Apple?

I am noticing a similar problem with my down-arrow key. Eject key works fine. Down arrow does not respond when it is pressed normally... needs a little extra pressure. Annoying in e.g. Safari.
