I have one of the original 15" FP iMacs. I added a new RAM chip to it to increase the RAM, but I need it more in my PB.

Can I transfer the chip from my iMac to my 12" G4 PB? In other words, do they use the same type of RAM?

Thanks!

Desktops use DIMMs, notebooks use SODIMMs.

I always thought that the FP iMacs *do* use Notebook size RAM (1 SODIMM in the user upgradeable slot only, and 1 desktop DIMM internally). I think you're compatibly issue would be the kind of RAM (PC133 vs. DDR, etc.) since it's an older FP iMac - over the size of the RAM.

Not quite The FP iMac's user accessible slot uses SODIMMs actually... but Angus is correct, the original FP iMac uses either PC100 or PC133, not sure which, while the PB uses DDR 266, and are thus different memory types.
