...as documented here: http://discussions.info.apple.com/We...U.28@.5999d784

I'll be waiting to buy both a PB and a dual G5 until Apple can clear this up. Whatever the problem is from a hardware standpoint, it's plain unacceptable.

This just reiterates the rule: never buy a first generation Apple hardware product. Ever. At very least, let the model be on the market for 3 months (or longer) before taking the plunge.

For now, I'll stay with my XP box, which bums me out.

...um, my PowerBook exhibits no problems. Again, I reiterate, people with problems here have just that--problems. This is the "Troubleshooting and Discussion" forum, not a "Kudos to Apple" forum, as I've mentioned before. You're more likely--by far--to find people with problems here than not. I doubt this is a sampling of every user on the planet.

Again, I shall eat crow if there's a recall.

Wait away...

Yeah...I haven't had ANY problems. No white spots, no dead pixels, no broken latch, no bad AE reception...and I have been looking for problems!

But yeah...people need to understand that the majority of people post here because they have issues. The majority of people are satisfied with their purchase and have no need to post here. They have better things to do with their Macs.

I'm here on MacNN because I don't want to do my calculus homework...

So does anyone know what is causing these white spots? And does it stem from the LCD manufacturer(s) or from Apple's assembly?
I, ASIMO.
