Hi, I am about to mail the $300 rebate form. I ordered through apple online store for education. What is exactly the reciept? Is it one of emails apple sent to me? Thanks.

What exactly did you order?

Most if not all products in the education store have the discount value included in the purchace price. i.e. My PowerBook was 2299 instead of 2599.

If you check the fine print on the rebate form, it says what is valid as proof of purchase. The only thing for online orders you get is the e-mail Invoices as those list the serial number of each product on it. Since I'm anal about rebates, I sent in 3 things. The complete order listing via order status on apple.com, the order confirmation e-mail, then the invoices for each item. The invoices don't list the original order date, but rather the day you were billed, so I think it's good to also include something that shows the original purchase date.

Aight. Where is the iPod rebate form? I found the HP Printer Rebate on the Education site, but the iPod rebate one is nowhere to be found.

Nevermind. Found it.

Apple mysteriously cancelled my order the other day and told me I didn't pay in time, when I did. Why wouldn't they just set order to 'Action Required' instead of cancelled. And now, I don't even qualify for Rebate and the sales people on the phone were treating my like garbage. Needless to say I sent a lengthy email to steve@mac.com and sjobs@apple.com hoping to get a reply to this situation....

Nonsense. The Apple Store will mail you (separate from the actual products) invoices which you can use as proofs of purchase.

I've never received an invoice from an online Apple Store purchase. I did get one invoice recently, but that was for the replacement iPod I was sent to replace a defective iPod. And it was basically a print version of the invoices you are e-mailed.

Me neither. Only the Canon printer had its own invoice

I am simply including the invoices that were sent via E-Mail (3 separate ones), the UPC labels, and the rebate pdf printout.

This should be the safest way to get the rebate.

That's true. The only email having order date is the very first email with subject "Your Apple Store Order". You may go to your online account and print from the order status if you lost that email.

Hi, I just called Apple, the rep told me he could either mail me the reciept or just email it. Both are OK for the rebate. I chose email (the faster way). Still waiting....

The number I called is 1-800-676-2775. It took me 11 mins to get to talk with someone today. Good luck!

But don't you have to also mail in the UPC codes?

Speaking of the codes, can I use the ones that are on brown mailing boxes? I really don't want to cut a hole in both the pretty PB and iPod box.

It turns out they just re-sent the emails with subject "invoice #". So I guess that is the reciept.

I don't think so. Are you sure the UPC codes on the mailing boxes are the same as the ones on PB and iPod box? I don't want to cut those beautiful boxes either. It looks like we have to.

According to the rebate, you have to cut out the entire barcode sections on the product boxes. Basically the whole white sticker and you must cut all the way through the box and include the cardboard backing. It specifically states peeled off stickers won't be accepted, etc. So yes, you have to cut some unsightly holes into Apple's nice boxes

*covers ears/eyes* la la la I don't hear you la la la

That's just evil for Apple to do that to its own products. Evil!

*whips out exacto knife* May we have a moment of silence, please

The question is whether a cut-all-the-way-through-the-cardboard UPC off of the brown shipping box would be sufficient.
