I am using the regular admin account *only and original created. when i shut down, some settings get erased, sharing options are automatically turned off, and i have to turn them back on again, how do I fix this, or should i just wait for panther in 10 days?

Since you didn't mention it. Try doing the permission correction thing in the Disk Utility application if you haven't already.

Preferences not sticking is not unique to you, Bruck.

My Date & Time settings never stick (three different Macs/OS X 10.1 through Jaguar.8). Especially the "network time" option.

A permissions fix doesn't correct the issue. I just go back and reset the preference when I notice the clock drifting a little slow.
