I think I have a case of Bad Ram, but I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced anything like it..

I got a Powerbook 867 last may, but for reasons that are unimportaint, it's out of warranty now.

When I got the machine, it had 768 meg of Apple Supplied memory. Things were good. I had wanted 1024, but I had very little free cash at the time, and could barely afford the machine at all.

Flash forward to now, where the machine is only reporting 512 megs of memory.. If I take out one of the two Memory sticks, it reports 480, if I use just the other, it reports 340.. Together, it's 512...

Is my memory faulty? Perhaps I shorted it somehow?

I'd appreciate any suggestions, or ideas on what might be happening.. It seems weird that the amounts don't add up to the total, nevermind that the amounts are smaller than they used to be..

Colin
