I was wondering if the OSX install CD's that came with your ibook are different than retail versions...why? well I was having video problems with my ibook 800 and this is what fixed it...first I bought this ibook and it came with no Cd's so when I brought it home I reformatted the HD and tried to install OSX 10.2 retail..well it got to the blue screen but it was like 6" square with black around the rest of it...it booted to the desktop after not completeing the setup (name etc)..I took it to a local apple reseller and asked if I could try a original ibook OSX install CD...and it worked perfectly...so what is the difference? and should I buy ibook cd's? thanks Mark

If you have a retail CD that's older than your model iBook, I suppose you could have some problems. New macs generally need some sort of enabler/software support/etc. If your retail CD is newer than your iBook, it should work fine, though (assuming the CD itself isn't damaged in some way).
