I've been trying to diagnose my sleep/wake problem on my ibook 600, which is basically that it wakes up when it shouldn't (while closed), and then opening it causes it to sleep. Annoying. One thing that always seems to cause it to wake when closed is plugging in the power cable (although sometimes it seems to do it without that as well). I've checked the keyboard is sitting properly, pressed the reset button thingy on the side, held down whatever keys you hold down to zap the PRAM or whatever it is and let it go "boing" several times, and gone into open firmware and done the reset nvram stuff. All to no avail. I've even tried talking nicely to it.

Oh, I don't know if this is in anyway related (probably not) but my power lead never glows orange now, just green all the time whether the battery is charged or not.

Can anyone help?

I had the problem of my iBook waking up after being disconnected from a USB printer (Lexmark) while on battery power and then connecting it to the AC adapter.

The Power Management Unit is capable of waking up the iBook when such an event occurs. I'd only be worried if your iBook had an episode of SOD (Sleep Of Death).

When you open it, it is probably already getting ready to go back to sleep. The screen will come on, but the system has already committed itself to sleep.

your machine should not wake up from sleep if you remove the power adaptor. most likely there is an electrical problem in either the main unit or the adaptor.

waking from sleep after a USB peripheral has been removed or added, however, is normal behaviour.
