Hey everybody,
I'm toying with the idea of selling my Ti 1Ghz/1MB/60GB/SD/Airport and stepping down a bit to the 12" 867 AlBook/SD/AE. I really don't need all the screen real estate and the extra $$$ from selling my Ti would come in handy for other purposes. Only thing is, I really have only spent a little time with the AlBooks in the Apple Store and CompUSA and I still am undecided if I would be happy with this move in the long run. I mostly just use word processing apps and some photo and ad design for my business as well as accounting programs. I have to say, the 15" screen does spoil you, but I wonder if it is really that necessary.
Has anyone else made a similar move? And if so, how dod it work out? Did you find the 12" to be too small or was it a good move? Also, any good ideas on where to sell my Ti, other than Ebay?
Thanks in advance!

I've gone from a 12" Alu to a Ti 867... and am loving it...
There were certain aspects of the Alu I just didn't like, for example, the side ports, rubbish battery life, heat, smaller screen... Although the keyboard was awesome on the alu.
I was thinking of going to a 15" Alu in the near future, but seeing all the problems am now going to wait for a G5 Powerbook no matter how loving it takes.
In a lot of aspects important to me, the Ti is still the superior machine...
Peace,
Marc

Why not just stay with your TiBook for a while longer? It's a beautiful and great performing machine and a 12" AlBook might seem like a step downwards with the smaller screen and lesser video GPU. Your TiBook should keep you going well until the PowerBook G5.

I went from a 800mhz tibook to a 12" rev a. 867 albook and 17" 1.33 albook and I would say the 12" seemed about the same or a step down from the 800 mhz (I basically kept on using the 800 mhz tibook) I thought it would make a big difference travelling but it didn't and it was slower in a number of areas. The 17" on the other hand seems like a huge step up in every area and It isn't really any more difficult to travel with than the ti800. Max RAM and hard drive in each... I would stay with the tibook until you can either move to a 17" or faster 15"...

What does the Ti (Titanum I figure) and Al mean? What type of problems have the Al models been having? I am preparing to buy a Pb and have been struggling over the 12 or 15 inch model. Perhaps the problems with certain models will help me decide. Thanks.

I have Ti 1GHz and just bought 12-inch 1GHZ SD for my better half. I think the screen is so much smaller,
that it's kind of hard getting used to it. For any serious graphics/video work it's just too small.
It's good for Photoshop on the go, but not as your main machine if you are used to great Ti screen.
Just my opinion.
