repair or replace? got two 15 alum that qualify for DOA or repair. they qualify for DOA cause we bought it thru education or so i was told.
what do you think the best solution is? go with the replacement while we can, or repair? don't have many files on either computer.
one pb has 7-9 spots, a bad latch, and slightly less airport reception than the other.
the 2nd pb has 3 spots, a loose bottom right corner above the combo drive.
other than these problems, both pbs are running awesome and are extremely fast.

Repair them, with a replacement you might get a whole load of other problems and have to start over.

I would have them replaced in a heartbeat...
If the new ones are also faulty, I would have them replaced too, until you get 2 that are 100% perfect out of the box.
Why should you have to be inconvenienced and send the machines away purely because of Apples bad QC?
Why on earth should you have to have 2 BRAND NEW machines REPAIRED!?
You go and buy a new suit from Hawkes of Saville Row, would you accept having it repaired before you even wore it? Umm, I know what my answer would be...
Situations like yours are the very reason for the DOA policy existing...
Ye Gods!
Good luck,
Peace,
Marc

i am leaning towards getting them replaced, since i can at this point. when i can no longer replace them, then i'll have no choice but to get them repaired.
what sux is that both of these computers are needed for education.
also, i've read that repairs are taking longer than expected.
this blows, why can't apple fix this problem.

In the UK at least, from the day you get a new machine, you get 10 days to report it as DOA.
When you get the replacement, you get another 10 days from when it is delivered to report any DOA faults.
This can go on and on until you get the perfect Powerbook you are entitled to...
It sucks, and I feel your pain as it has happened to me in the past...
Good luck with it,
Marc

thanks for the heads up. unfortunately, i wasn't able to talk to the DOA department yesterday as they are closed for the weekend. i will definitely inquire on monday as to the us policy. from what the tech support person, it seems like I could have 30 days for DOA, but I def want to talk to the DOA department, as he didn't know too many details on DOA.
