Hi! I have a new Rev.B 12" Powerbook...
I have noticed that it gets quite warm when on...
on a scale of 1-10 (1=Ice cold) (10=fire hot)
I rate mine about 6-7 all of the time.... What are you guys/gals experiencing with yours?
Thanks
Steven

It certainly gets warmer than my old pc notebook.
Let see:
old notebook: 2
PB: 6-7 sounds about right. But it's nothing to fret about.

I also have a Rev B. 12" and mine rarely get's (what i could call on your scale) a 4. The only time this thing heats up is when I am playing a game. Ripping music, charging the battery, etc, doesn't seem to effect the heat. FWIW, my Rev A 12" got hot all the time, even with minimal use.

I've had mine about five days now, and it never seem to get unduly hot. Warm, yes, but never so warm that I'm concerned about it.

I bought a 12"PB Rev A refurbished for cheap just recently, and I have almost no problems with the heat. I actually use the thing on my lap in shorts a lot. Maybe Apple fixed the problem or it was isolated, but no problems here!
I will be buying refurbished from now on

I finally got mine last friday and it was unbelieveable compared to my pismo. I notice the heat also when i set my processor speed to highest performance and the fan will turn on automatically. However if i set my processor speed to auto, my 12" will only get warm and it still comfortable to work on. I heard about the heat issue on the rev a model, but i think rev b is improving.

By the way:
I had a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop that would get so hot that I could not touch the thing underneath. I was scared that it would even catch the desk on fire. This 12"PB doesn't even come close. But, it is my first apple laptop so this may be a new thing for you guys, but it is nothing to worry about. This is what happens when you scale down the current processors into a 12" case. Perhaps, as the thinkness of the processors gets smaller, this will become a mute point. Anyway, good luck with your computers. I think the 12"PB is the best powerbook. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
PS, Apple store down. New ibooks?? Just kidding
