So there i was playing with the new 15" PB from my work, and during a heated game of Warcraft III a purple vertical line pops up near the center of my screen! what the heck?! i was shocked and a little scared, tried rebooting, changing resolutions, even changing the color scheme but to no avail. Now this once beautiful PB has a hideous line going down the center and i have to explain to my boss it has to go back for repair (Applecare) only less than a month it was purchased! Has anyone else had this sort of problem, or even better, come up with a way of fixing this problem without having to ship it back? any input/sympathy would be great

I had this identical problem on a new Apple 17" flat panel display right out of the box. Apple sent me a new one right away.

I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago on my TiBook. There's nothing you can do except to call Apple and send it in, because the screen will have to be replaced. This happened to me after the normal warranty had expired, but luckily I had Applecare, so I was spared the +$1000 cost of getting the screen replaced. (phew!) Sorry to hear that you had this happen on your new 15". Give Apple a call and they will take care of it.
