following what I've red yesterday, the system preferences will allow you in panther to controll the mtu size

Am I the only one that has no idea what haifischjunge is talking about?

As I work for an ISP, I'm familiar with MTU. It stands for maximum transmission unit and defines the packet size that can be sent over the network. It can be tweaked to optimise a broadband connection but really should be left alone. It's usually set at about 1457 bytes or so.

BTW: It can be adjusted in just about any OS with the right utility and has been adjustable since 10.0 using the BSD subsystem.
