Alright now, convince me as to which one is the better choice. I'm a student and also a web designer working about 40-60 hours a week and need a new machine. My Pismo with the 900 mhz Powerlogix upgrade is starting to show its age.

I was sorta disappointed with the Paris Powerbook upgrades so I waited for more info. Maybe the release of the new G4 iBooks is that event!

Which one is best for me?
I ran my Pismo with 512 MB for the longest time and boosted that up to 1 Gig, which improved performance dramatically.
Secondly, Photoshop, Golive (although I may switch to Dreamweaver now with the axing of editing for dynamic content in Golive CS) and keep Entourage, Safari and iTunes open in the background running constantly. I will be getting into some Lightwave stuff which is pretty painful on my Pismo to do, but it gets the job done.

In addition, like I said, I can get the education discounts. I took a look at Formac's new 19" flat display yesterday and it looks fantastic! I know for a fact that I'll be getting a G5 Rev. B come next year. With that said, is the iBook 14" 1 Ghz+Formac's 19" enough to hold me over until then perhaps or do I just need to get the 17 incher and be done with it?

17" PB is a beautiful piece of hardware... i highly recommend it. But your decision ought to be based on what you need right now.

I don't think you'll be able to run the formac monitor with the iBook - at least not at the monitor's native resolution. I think the PB is the better choice but why the 17" version if you are going to hook up to an external screen?

None of the iBooks will work with the Formac 19" since the iBook doesn't have DVI support.

Webbing on the iBook will be cumbersome, 1024 is not much space especially if you can't expand with a second monitor. FlashMX, even Photoshop, take a lot of acreage! You'll quickly feel limited with the iBook.

Go for the 17", although for webbing it's a bit overkill. I'd go for a 15" and a monitor instead.

And the FiverBook? not before MWSF 2005, for SURE. Way too many issues to be resolved. Check the other threads on the subject.
this lounge is a poor substitute to the bbq.
