Anyone wanna make some estimates on the next major notebook upgrades??
I'd bet...
Mid - 2006 or January 2007
Because you figure it has taken about 4 years for the iBook to get a G4. Not to mention the iBook is bound to be knocked back into consumer level (because right now the Top O line iB just about rivals the 12" PB, and iB is cheaper). Also keep in mind that the PB G4 cycle is nearing its end. It just doesn't get much faster than 1.33 in a G4 notebook. I say good luck getting a 1.42 in there w/o melting the thing.
Powerbook G5...?
I remember them doubting they could get a G4 in a notebook (because the heat issues and shiz). It took about 2 years from the PB G3 to the PB G4. But I'm guessing that Apple is working harder on getting a G5 in the PB. So I guess we will see a PB G5 near...

I would expect a G5 PowerBook sooner than later. With the G4 iBook out and Pentium-M laptop PC's performing and selling so well, the PowerBook needs a significant performance boost that the G4 can't give it, not to mention that G4's are in the consumer portable now.
I would also expect the iBooks moving over to the 7447 G4 in the current PowerBooks as soon as the PowerBook goes G5.
I hope for a 1 GHz 12" iBook damn soon! Having to buy a 14" just to get the 1 GHz blows!

Well, the G3 iBook came on the scene in July 1999. The G3 PowerBook wasn't discontinued until January 2001. So, Apple used the same CPU in both its consumer and professional portables for well over a year. G4 iBooks don't necessarily mean that G5 PowerBooks are just around the corner...

No, but PowerBooks should be smoking Centrinos instead of just barely being competitve.
iBook - 133 MHz FSB
PowerBook - 167 MHz FSB
Centrion P4M - 800 MHz FSB
a 1.8 GHz G5 - 900 MHz FSB
