So... who wants to be the first to try it and let everyone else know if it work? I want the 12" model ASAP, but I can't live w/o spanning. I currently have an 800Mhz 12" iBook so this wouldn't be a life changing upgrade, but I need Altavec. I'd buy a faster 12" G4 iBook if Apple would make me one, and I don't want a 14".

Anyway... I digress. iBook G4 Spanning??!!

Keep the rubber side down!

<bump>

It would be really great if somebody with a new iBook G4 would try the OF hack and see if spanning works.

If spanning works on the iBook the 12" PowerBook is going to get really tough competition!

Yes, someone please try it! We know it's a risk, but for heaven's sake we need to know!

We'll say sorry if it goes wrong, honest.

this is why god created the display model.

cmon there must be someone in NYC with enough balls to go down to SoHo today and in the middle of all the panther hoopla give this a try. not that whoever could hook it up to a monitor, but it certainly could be explored if the comp would even reboot properly.

this might take the edge off of the scariness for a new ibook g4 buyer.

whos got the cajones to do it?
i live in the country...

yeah! fantastic news! This is going to make it very hard to not buy a new ibook tonite at the Apple Store. I wonder what the probability is that they'll have an unadvertised discount ala the Jag launch.

Well, there was the 10% off, and they had the ibooks, but I was able to resist. In the few minutes I had with one, it was enough to decide to go with the 12" PB. I felt like the PB was noticeably quicker with multiple apps open.

Oh well, I'll wait another month and keep saving money.
