If Panther is shipping already, then why can't Apple stores sell them now? Do we really have to wait until 8:00PM on Friday?

While you'll never get an Apple company store to sell you a copy early (unless you grease a few palms), I remember a few years ago Office Depot (or OfficeMax... one of the Office_____s) put MacOS X 10.0 out for sale many days early. You could always try there.

i just find a store selling a legal dvd copy of finding nemo, which won't be out until 11/4. so you might want to look out some small computer store.

A person who posted on the OS X forum on this website almost bought a copy at CompUSA, he just went and asked for a copy of OS X, and they handed him Panther. He tried to buy it, but it scaned $1024.03 for it. A manager than came and told him they can't sell it to him yet. Of course, the price really means... 10/24/03 I guess maybe Apple told them to do that just in case something like this happens.
