I for one love typing on my crappy ibook keyboard (read i like it).

yes the powerbook is great, but at the same time i find the ibooks to be great too.

My bigget worry with the powerbook 12 was the heat... then they fixed it... and for the past 3 days I was about to buy one, when what do you know, ibook G4...

And one poster says it runs as cool as his G3 500... that seals the deal for me.

It's either the 12 or 14 inch or 14inch....

i'm excited..

I've got my 700 on my lap right now, I'd call it warm. I've never had it get hot.

Huh, my iB 500 was a steam demon when doing things like web browsing. Granted, Microcenter's been "repairing" it for 4 months now, but hopefully I'll have a replacement to compare it with soon. It was hot, but it never bothered me when I was writing. Great machine for that, as far as I'm concerned. Likely, there will always be exceptions, and those will generate the most buzz. Still sucks when you have one.

Mine is relatively warm at the most.

I have only heard its fan 2 times since I had it. The first time I heard the fan I thought seriously that something was being hammered inside. 700 MHZ Ibook.

i have a 700mhz too. lately ive been hearing the fan a lot. i think i heard that the main source of the fan coming on (overheating) is intensive use of the vid processor. wahr? true?

i recently did the spanning hack, and thus, i turned down the min vram for quartz extreme. hm. im also runnning panther, so maybe thats making the thing hot, or maybe its the openGL screensaver, that ive been frequenting... am i crazy to have all these graphics intensive options running? my house has really good heat, lets just say that, but its almost as if the hard drive never spools down.

its uncomfortably hot under my left palm right now. (sweating)

Dan.
