Remember you get PANTHER with them... i was going to buy that on friday for my ibook g3... but I could buy the new one, sell my old one and probably only spend 400 dolalrs to upgrade.... oh eys.

PANTHER is what 129? plus tax at the apple store?

Cheaper online. say 100...

so now the G4 is only 999.... i think apple figured that in too...

And they don't have just the CD-ROM anymore...

that's a great deal.

they had a g3 with combo drive for what 1299 yesterday?

Now for 200 bucks cheaper you get a G4 and panther....

I think the iMacs, Ibooks, and eMacs are great value.

WOW!

Waht a great day. this has made me gitty.

You wouldn't catch me saying this two years ago, but yeah, I think they're good values too.

I used to tell people that the iBooks/iMacs were for students and beginners and that Powerbooks and Powermacs were for the advanced users. I think that in the last 18 months or so Apple has done a great job closing the gap between the low-end models and the Pro models.

I consider myself a fairly advanced user but more and more I see myself considering the iBooks a viable investment.
