ALL the Apple laptops seem priced very fairly relative to each other--making my decision very hard! The new iBooks are great. But you DO get more with the PowerBook. Enough, I feel, to justify the cost IF they are things you care about:
* Speed: 25% more MHz, twice the L2 cache, benchmarks considerably faster
* Higher RAM capacity, and an empty slot (no need to discard an Apple RAM module)
* Audio-in
* DVI (plus VGA/Comopiste/S-Video like the iBook)
* Display spanning (official, not hacked)
* Smaller in all dimensions, and lighter
* Scratch-resistant aluminum
* Firmer keyboard?
* Bluetooth (without the need for BTO)
* Better sound? (3 speakers vs. only 2)
* Bigger hard disk (40 vs. 30)
BUT:
* Lower battery life than iBook?
* Virtually the same GPU performance?
* And which one feels hotter?
Anyway, that's my roundup. I love the look of the new iBooks... but the features of the PowerBook are worth it to me I think. (Likewise the 15" and 17"... curse all these options!)
