I can't pick up Panther until later on tonight,
but I was wondering if anybody installed it on the 15" Powerbook yet. Is it faster?
How does it look? How did you confgigure Exposé with the function keys?

Have installed panther on my 15" 1.25 Ghz, 1 gig RAM.

Likes:

Boots up MUCH faster than Jaguar. Less than 1 minute from chime to dock. Previously it was about 1min 50sec. I've been timing it.

Expose. Super cool. Has to be seen to be appreciated.

Lots of interface nicities, animated icons when launching apps, window resizing etc. Performance does NOT take a hit though. Not on this powerbook. Less RAM may slow things down. I dunno how much though.

Dislikes

Incompatible apps (that I use)

DiskWarrior 3, Splash Photo 4.05, FruitMenu, WindowShade.

Although expose makes WindowShade passe.

How has battery life changed once you installed Panther?

I Just finished an upgrade...

I love Expose! This was my major gripe with OS X was poor windows management. This will help a Ton.

My battery Indicator is reflecting a slightly better time, 2:20-30 Now it is at 2:50-3 that is after a full charge, sccreen brightness full, airport, no sound.

I like the added organizational features;seperators, color shades, etc etc

I can now print to my Windows Shared Printer with out a hack, Thank you Apple!

Load times are improved, I went from 1:10 to 45 seconds now. Chime to Desktop

My 3,4,5 key on the mouse now work also. (Set those for expose)

I'm happy, I'm sure I will discover new things.
