At the store. Did Xbench on an 800 MHz 12" and the 1 GHz 12" PB so far. Going to do it on the 14" ASAP. Here's the Xbench info:

Based on these iBook results, my 12" powerbook still wrecks it in every category on the xBench tests. Not to mention that the iBook was tested with Panther, and my PB is still running Jaguar, and by most accounts Panther has been improving xBench scores. There is still a healthy gap between the PB and the iBook, so no more whining about the new iBooks being 12" powerbook killers.

You did notice that these are two sets of identical numbers right? I mean, I agree with you that your PB is faster, but you certainly didn't come to that conclusion from looking at the above numbers.

I ran my own xBench test, and compared it to the two identical results posted above which are both from the iBook. Give me some credit...sheesh!

xBench of my Rev. B 12" 1 GHz AlBook running Panther. Still running with its stock ram 256MB (Still waiting for my 512MB from OWC)

The new 12" PowerBook should walk all over a new 1 GHz iBook G4 as the iBook is using the G4 (MPC 7455) processor from the older PowerBooks. The new PowerBooks have the MPC 7457 with 512KB level 2 cache and other improvements vs. the iBook G4's 256 KB level 2 cache.

according to xBench scores, indeed it does.
The 12in Rev. B PBG4 beats the iBook in every test, so does the 867MHz Rev. A.
Apparently the iBook ain't all that good, though it will [with the G4 upgrade] suffice the needs of many.
