iBook 600 640mb ram 10.2.6

Not sure when this started, but my hard drive will not spin down. I have checked all the energy saver settings and both power adapter and battery power are set to 'put hard disk to sleep when possible. Is there someplace else to get the hard drive to stop spinning.

Download Cocktail, you can use it to set the HD to spin down after a certain amount of time. Try one minute--Jaguar accesses the HD very frequently, so it spins up again very quickly. I've given up trying to spin it down, because it seems pointless.

I've found that 10.2.8 gets my hard drive to spin down much more frequently then in past OS versions (at least for 10.2), not including OS 9.

Thanks for the help.

Cocktail seems to do the buisness. How is 10.3 with this (spin down) / battery life.
