hey all, everyone knows you can have function keys act like function keys by booting into OS9 and unchecking the option in the keyboard control panel. The problem i'm having is this trick no longer works since i've installed Panther.
If i boot into OS 9 on my powerbook (15" Ti800) the keyboard preferences are set correctly and the function keys work correctly (fn+F1 = brightness). But when i boot into Panther it reverts to the bastard way.
Is anyone else running into this MAJOR problem? I've zapped PRAM, rebuild desktop, repaired permissions. this is driving me nuts.

I have the same problem. This was the only reason I ever needed to boot into OS 9, but now even this doesn't work.

I guess I'll just wait and see if DoubleCommand can work around this (currently incompatible with Panther though).
