If you needed to buy a used iBook G3 500 with Radeon GPU for Quartz Extreme.

consider:
-Battery may die within this year
-Less than completely clean
-G3 instead of G4
-CDROM only
-Slower RAM
-Classic airport card
-good TFT screen

How much would you pay for one?

Considering the iBook 500 isn't capable of Quartz Extreme, I wouldn't pay much...

I'm in the same boat. I'll be upgrading to a 12-inch PowerBook a few weeks from now. So my iBook/500/576/10GB/CD/AirPort will have to go. With so many better G3 iBooks and the super-duper new iBook G4 selling for $999 educational, I'll probably be lucky to get $200-300 for my decked out iBook.

I'll also be selling my original (bought August 15, 1998) Rev.A Bondi iMac/233 soon for space reasons. I don't even want to think how little I'll get for that one.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

I still see the iBook 500's going for between $500-$600 on eBay. You might get lucky there.

I was thinking of selling my 12" iBook 700. It is decked out but the amount that they are going for right now isn't worth my time. It has Airport, 640MB, 2 1/2 years left on AppleCare. I will hold onto it for awhile since it is in perfect condition and I have a nice warranty left.

How much do you think an iBook 800MHz/640Mb Memory w/combo drive + airport card is worth?

Maybe it is better to give them to your relatives or friends. That's what I did with my old computers. The few hundred bucks isn't worth the trouble of selling.

On the other hand, you can still keep them as "server machines" for your music or data.

I dont know, on Ebay anything Apple seems to go for a really high price. I've seen original calmshells in good condition go for $450

I sold my 700mhz ibook for $800. Granted I had added a little RAM and Airport card but still....... And this was two days after the G4 ibooks were announced

One hint that a veteran ebayer gave me is that with anything Tech, having all the boxes, manuals and packing REALLY increases the resale value.

Lastly when you list is make sure that the picture shows the box and manuals. Obviously he knew something. I never expected to get that much.

Now maybe I got lucky, I cringed when I listed the ibook and two days later Apple announced the new ones but I go a very good price.
