Any 14 inch owners out there.... feels like no one buys the 14inch, but I'm still considering it.

Anyone buy the 14G4 ibook?

IIRC, the 14" ibooks are due sometime this week. The 12" is great and the 14" should be (sans same resolution as 12").

It's because the 14" G4 iBooks haven't been released yet...they should start shipping within the week.

I know, just asking maybe someone got one earlier.

When do you think TEKSERVE or the Apple Store will have them on display?

By this Friday?

Check my SIG....

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

Love it... my gf has a 12" ibook and I like mine a lot more. Sometimes I do like the small size of the 12", but I always like going back to my roomier 17".

Since the 7 is right above the 4 I think we can assume that's a typo

go with the 14 unless you already have an external monitor. the 12 is too small for practical word, internet use. too much scrolling all the time just to read and edit documents

I dont' know if i can take the less sharp screen, it might bother me too much, but scrolling is a bitch.

Both machines have exactly the same resolution ( 1024 x 768 ) which means if you have to scroll on the 12" you have to scroll on the 14". The difference is in the size of the pixel which means text etc.. is bigger, easier to read but less crisp.

Right, so I guess the decision lies in whether you prefer to squint to see it or deal with a little haze.
Just pretend you have been drinking beers before you started typing.

To be honest, unless you have eyesight problems the text on the 12" isn't an issue it is pefectly usable. The only thing that you should watch is if you do design work. You can create a design that you think is the perfect size and then view on a larger screen and it looks the same positionally but everyting is massive in comparison especially text which can look stupidly large.

This haziness everyone here on this board keeps on talking about is complete crap! I think people here are trying to give the iBook 14" a bad name or something. I am a 25 year old guy, with NO eyeproblems whatsoever (been tested to go into jetfighter training and the eyes were perfect, just my back was crap...). Nevertheless, the 14" gives a very sharp picture. It is NO hazier than the 12" and is easier on the eyes than the 12". I work in Word most of the day and I know for a fact that the 14" works easier.

SURE: you can see the exact same thing on the 12" screen.
SURE: the 12" is more portable.
SURE: the 14" is easier on the eyes. AND NOT FUZZY!! That's bullshit.
SURE: the 14" is 200Mhz faster.

i have a 14". i love it. even though the screen res is the same as a 12er (i had a 500mhz BTW) you dont seem to need to have the windows as large, thus in a bassackwards kinda way, having a larger screen. i chose this for the size, it hit a point there where i just got tired of squinting (for the record, i have 20/20) it is everything i could ever hope it to be, especially now that i have the spanning hack going for me.

as far as the portability issue, the 12" is an EXTREME example of portability- possibly if i had a tower as well, i would consider a 12", but since this is my only comp and i do not have an external monitor at the moment, ill trade off extreme portability for good portability and a screen i do not have to squint for.

those are my 2 cents. the 14" is a perfectly crisp screen, but i can see that if youre used to the 12" you might be a little disappointed. again, EXTREME

I agree that this stuff about the 14" being hazy or fuzzy is getting repetitious and makes no sense anyway. My iMac flat panel 15" has the same resolution as the iBooks, or close to it, and no one has been calling them fuzzy or hazy looking. On the contrary, everyone has raved about the iMac screens. My iMac is very crisp, even crunchy. Enough allready. If you can't afford the 14" model, just keep quiet.

I have a 14"iBook (700MHz) and a 1GHz TiBook. I enjoy the iBook and had just as soon use it, for most purposes, as the TiBook. All this blather about "real estate" and the "fuzziness" of the 14" display is just wrong and tiresome. Go look at both the 12" and the 14" iBooks and decide if either fits your needs. In my opinion, unless portability is an issue, the new 14" is a far better choice.
