I'm interested to see if those who made custom orders from Apple after Oct 17th, are still receiving screens with white spots.
Since they are coming from production in Taiwan and a fix to the defect was announced on the 17th, they should (in practice) arrive with the new screen design.
Please post your order date, delivery date and screen status. That should give us an idea if the production line is using the new design or old stocks.
Thanks

If a group of mimes are miming a forest and one falls down, does he make a sound?

Since both the 12" and 17" Powerbook show same day delivery and the 15" Powerbook shows a 10-15 day lead time I'm assuming this delay is specifically to repair the design flaw that caused the white spots.
I guess the delay is to catch up with orders already placed.

I ordered my BTO 1.25Ghz on Sep 17 from Apple Education UK. Arrived 8 days ago and it's perfect, no screen problems whatsoever.

My first was shipped out a week after they released it, and I sent it in last week for a replacement. It had white spots, power issue, heat issue, and a ticking harddrive.
My second 15 inch powerbook was BTO on the 21st, and just came yesterday. White spots on the screen, as well as a wierd problem with the monitor or lcd. When i rest my palms on the powerbook or type, a firework of pixles form on the screen creating a flickering deal.

OCTOBER 17th not September fellas So far only Sakino's PB meets the criteria. Base on his post Apple is knowingly sending defective products from Taiwan.
Let get a some more feedback, one case isn't enough.

What are you talking about? If I am not mistaken, Apple never accepted publicly that there is some problem with these powerbooks.

The responses came from Apple Care (on the 17th) that the screen casing was designed too tight causing the white spots. They went on to say that having the computer replaced would likely result in having the same problem and suggested sending it in for repair.
Currently 15.2"ers sent in for repair are backlogged awaiting the new screens with the new casing design.
