So my first laptop was my 2001 iBook dual usb. I have contemplated PowerBooks ever since but just didn't see the value and portability that I had in my iBook. I also love the way the iBook looks and feels compared to the PowerBooks.

it's not even a matter of money, i have the cash, i just like the iBook more!

I've just made the decision to switch to Mac and am awaiting my first iBook which should arrive in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it. Started using OSX at work and that did it for me.

I started out with a Blueberry iBook and then I got a 12" 700. I must be crazy but I have been thinking about down grading back to the clamshell 466MHz. Am I crazy? Anyone wanna make a trade?

Oh...I love the iBook.

I made the jump from an iBook/500/DVD to a refurbished TiBook 667DVI/Combo back in May (Apple was closing them out).

The TiBook has a wonderful 15" 1280x854 screen and isn't that much heavier than my old iBook (0.5 lbs more). I also haven't had any paint peeling or other problems (except that I need to keep the screen open or other weight on the corner to charge...kinda a pain but I will get it fixed soon).

But I do somewhat miss the porability of my iBook. I never leave my TiBook in the trunk of the car or let my friends' kids near it. I also have a CoolPad that I need to use if I burn a CD while using AC power (it gets a little toasty only when doing both of those at once).

If I were upgrading from my iBook/500/DVD now it would be an iBook for sure (I don't like the AlBooks much).

I'll be skipping this round of upgrades but now that the iBook G4 has pretty much equalled what I have in horsepower (it surpasses my machine in CD writing speed, video, and portability) the next generation is a consideration for my next upgrade (if I want to sacrifice screen size for portability).

Voch

I'm on my second iBook (had an original Tangerine 300MHz, now I have a 600/DVD). When I outgrow it, or Apple comes up with something compellingly faster (with a 12" or smaller screen) I'll upgrade. I like the iBook because of its light weight, small form factor, and (very important) durability. I don't want to have to baby my laptop -- I don't care about scratches on the outside, I just want it to keep on ticking.

The other day I wasn't looking and when I turned around my 35 lb 3-year-old was STANDING on my closed iBook. It didn't sustain a single scratch, crack, or problem. THAT is why an iBook is the tool for me.

I really loved my iBook 800, but the work I was doing dictated a move to the powerbook (too many palettes for the 1027x768 screen).

While I love the PowerBook, I do find myself babying it a lot more than I ever did my iBook.
