Hey Everyone,
I'm new to these boards - generally i'm a Macworld board guy - but recently since I've bought my new PB 15" with Superdrive - I've been trolling through these boards and have thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Anyways, moving on to my post..... I installed Panther on Friday - did a clean install - and there seems to be one problem -
I can't access BlueTooth. The icon is crossed out in the right corner - and it says BlueTooth Not Available.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this.
Thanks for the help,
emalen
(also, while Panther is fun - i don't think it would have been worth $170 Can. $ - luckily I got the up-to-date discount)

I'm not sure if it's the same problem as I get under Jaguar or not, but sometimes when I get home from work with my 17" and plug it in the Bluetooth doesn't show up until I've restarted once or twice.
Very odd - no idea why, either.
Anyone else had either of these two problems?

I had the exact opposite problem. I could not shut off my Bluetooth. Upon reboot, there it was in the menubar. Yanked it and locked all of the prefs. Reboot and there it was again.
I tracked it down to an issue with FileVault. After I disabled, that, Bluetooth behaved again.
So, did you have FileVault on and what type of install did you do?

I had this annoying problem as well. Couldn't for the life of me figure what the heck was going on...I spent a week dinking around with everything I could think to do. I finally found a solution on the apple help boards. Sorry i don't remember exactly what the steps are, but it entails a key combination and battery removal. I know, sounds strange, but it worked for me. Do a search on bluetooth there and you'll find it.

Deara wanderlust
just wanted to thank you - it works!!!! of course it's funny - that i don't actually have a bluetooth compatible device yet... but i have a really expensive powerbook - and i'd be annoyed if something doesn't work!!
for everyone facing the same problem...
here is the solution
Reset the PMU, and that solved it for me. Instructions for that are at the bottom of this Apple KB article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...um=14449#faq10
