so seemingly out of nowhere, my screen on my Ti 667 pb starts zig zagging, like bad reception on an old tv, and just goes bonkers until it either grays out completely or i slap the b*tch on the side.

i hate to b*tch slap my pb, but i have no other choice to bring it back to normal. sometimes it's okay for a few, but mostly it just has it's bad days where it is constantly nuts and unreadable.

is there a connection that is possibly loose or some other solution someone knows of i could try instead of sendng to apple? i'm far away from an apple store.

it's just the screen--i sometimes put a pen under one side and it seems to help but then goes again... everything else (programs, functionality, etc) is okay.

thanks!

I had this exact thing happen to my Ti 550. I found that if i squeezed the back corner of the laptop right where the screen was that I could make it stop. Finally I unscrewd all the screws on the bottom and took off the bottom cover. There you will find the vga connection. That is where the bad connection is, you can unplugg it and plug it back in and I found this would fix the problem for a short while and then it would happen again. I then found that if i sort of pugged the connection in a little sideways it would get a tighter fit and i did not have the problem again.

I hope this helps as I understand it is a very annoying thing to have happen!

I find a sucker punch and body slam also work.

yes, but i often trip over the adapter cable and end up hurting myself.

ucsbdude, thanks for the reply and hint. i messed around with and tightened down my external vga monitor connection a little bit, and it seems to have calmed it down somewhat. that back corner pinching seems to also help.

i was just afraid to send out to apple as i heard that the turnaround for screen issues is up to two weeks. the g3 powerbook that is holding my door open would not suffice as a substitute.

maybe aromatherapy for the screen would calm it too...

thanks again
