I have the DVI--->ADC adaptor thing from Apple as I use it to connect my TiBook to my screen, but is there any way I could do something similar with an iBook 12" as I really don;t want to have to sell my LCD...

Cheers,

Marc

I believe that's DVI to VGA; Mr. Casual needs a VGA to DVI adapter.

That's going to be quite a cable:

Since the Apple adapter's expecting a digital signal, I wonder if you may need this instead (it ain't cheap): http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1310

Cheers!

I am in a real quandry about stuff at the moment... this just adds to it!

I have a 2 months old 867 Ti that is perfect for my needs, but really need Airport Extreme (before my g/f throttles me in my sleep with my house cable setup...!).

I can sell the Ti, and get a 12'"G4 iBook with maxed out HD, AE card, AE Basestation, and max RAM for the same money... but what to do wiith my Apple LCD

After this, it looks like the iBoook gets the nod...

Thanks again,

Marc

(P.S. Wow! I'm turning into AssassyN!)

Hey Guys,

The iBook does not natively run Dual Monitors, only mirroring. With the right adapter and the firmware hack though, it will run dual monitors. So you don't have to toss your lcd's or old monitors. I will be switching form a Ti667 to a 14" iBook and will be employing the hack. At xlr8yourmac.com they list everything you need to do it, there's an apple script out there now. They also have testimony from someone who's done it successfully.

Peace

that was not even an issue here kiddo. what the issue was was the he had a 17"cinema display (which has an ADC connector) to work with the mini vga an ibook has. this is possible, but not cheap. at last check it think it was somewhere around 300 clams!

anyway. thanks for the info on the hack, but that was somewhat irrelevant to the conversation here

Dan.
