Hi All,

I have a question about the bluetooth option for the new iBook. I ordered my new iBook from MacMall. I didn't get it as a BTO, because I don't want to wait a really long time to get the thing. However, I am curious about the Bluetooth option. Is it easy to install the Bluetooth inside later on, or is it soldered in?

I know I can buy the Bluetooth USB plug if I have to, so it's no big deal... but it would be nice to have it inside.

Also, does anyone know of a bluetooth enabled transmitter that can send music from my iBook to my stereo?

Thanks.

I just recently bought the G4 iBook from an Apple Store. I was told by one of the employees that No. You cannot add the Bluetooth chip later. You can only get it internal via BTO.

My impulse to buy in the store took over, and I got the small USB reciever.

Despite confusion on Apple's web site, the Bluetooth adapter is in fact built in and must be added at the time of purchase. I customized my iBook 800 with Bluetooth, 60 GB HD, 640MB RAM and Airport Extreme when I ordered it last Thursday. It left Taiwan today. I'll have it Monday. 10 days is not a bad wait.

I have a USB Bluetooth adapter for my desktop. Do you know how small they are? Do you know how easy it is to lose when you carry it around with your iBook?
