I just recently purchased a new Ti powerbook about 2 months before the new 15 inch powerbooks were released. Is there anyway the Ti can be upgraded to the airport extreme?

You cannot use Apple's Airport Extreme cards as they are mini-pci cards that can't fit into a Ti. However several Mac vendors offer 802.11g PCMCIA cards which work with the Airport Extreme drivers (same chipset). Ugly since its not internal, but it'll tide you over till the G5 powerbook =)

You could probably get any card that uses the same wireless chipset, if you are up to the techie bit.

Why would you want AE right now? Unless you are on a lan moving big files around over airport, it really doesn't do much for ya.

Most internet connections won't saturate regular Airport, let alone AE.

You cannot have both an internal aiport card and one of these installed at the same time, is that correct?

Yes, you can have the internal card installed while using a PC-card, but the internal card must be turned of using the Network locations menu. You establish two separate locations, one with the internal card turned off, the other with the PC-card turned off. In other words, you can't use both the internal airport card and a wireless PC-card at the same time.
