An article about the white spot issue
Our favourite fruite company has many quality problems right now : issues with the PowerBook 15, external firewire 800 drives going mad with Panther ... News.com
There must be some people getting mad at Cupertino ...

Although it's unfortunate they are picking up bad press, sadly this seems the only way Apple will admit a mistake. People have had problems since day one, yet only now are they finally acknowledging the problem...same thing with Panther killing firewire drives (even then Apple claims its only FW800 when there are various reports of FW400 drives dying). I would be furious if I had decided to buy a 15" PB and having to deal with the white spot issue.

Personally I think apple should randomly sprinkle about whitespots on everything. THis way we can become more use to them
ANyway, I think the resaon for all these flaws is that apple is to concerned about getting a bigger piece of the pie so they start pushing out half assed products.
What is gonna result from all of this is Apple losing the few loyal customers they have.

Holy Sheeite!!!!
WOW was I lucky to not goof up either FW drive.
One is a 200GB D2 FW 400 and the other is my old 80 gb in a 911 case.
I checked Lacie's site and only found a wierd firmware update that says OS9 on it even though it's a Panther problem.

The "genius" at my local apple store told me that if there was a white spot they would send in for a new screen.
They didn't fix the uneven space tween screen and base when closed.
If any of you are having trouble getting those white spots taken care of, try calling/visitting again.

Well... bad timing..
BTW.. I saw one guy walked out with Panther and the LaCie USB 2.0 & FireWire 800 Hard Drive out from the AppleStore during the Panther night.. hope he would get mad.
