I ordered a PowerBook G4 1.25Ghz October 16th. Oct. 31 was the estimated ship date. Well, as my luck goes, and probably others, this is what was sent to me today:

Dear Apple Customer,

We appreciate your recent purchase from the Apple Store. Following is an update regarding the status of your order --------.

Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following item(s) as follows:

Z07E02CRH, PBG4 15.2/1.25GHZ/512/80/CMBO/AP/BL/LL will now ship on or before 12/23/2003.

We regret any inconvenience this delay may cause.

--

Before I cancelled my order, I asked why it was such an all of a sudden delay and they said, "it is very odd, but we don't know." I guess I will order a 17" iMac.

I'm guessing that the White Spots problemsand HERE too may be the reason. Apple has FINALLY acknowledged that there is a problem.

"Apple did not make anyone available to discuss the problem, but it did release a statement Thursday:

``The new 15-inch PowerBook has been a big hit with customers since its introduction last month. However, some customers are reporting the appearance of faint, white spots on their displays after using the system for a short period of time, and Apple is investigating these reports right now. Any customers experiencing this problem should contact AppleCare.'' Cited article

It seems like the issue is for 15" only. I ordered a 12" PB 10/25/03 and I just got it today. The tiny thing looks so shiny and cute! With Pather and iSight..I'm gonna have tons of fun!

What's weird about it is that i ordered a 15" and it says nothing about that delay other than on the status on apple.com but apple has said nothing about it to me

The delay is from requesting the 5400 rpm BTO option. If you go standard, there is only a minor delay.

I walked into an Apple store and walked out with a 1.25Ghz 15" the night Panther was released, and I haven't noticed any white spots (yet)
