is it possible with some kind of splitter or so, to attach a second hard drive to my laptop. obviously...i would have to open up the keyboard and hang the drive off the side with the laptop opened up, but...is it possible. ive switched drives in and out of the laptop just fine, but i want to swap files from one drive to the other thus...i need to hook up 2 drives at once. that would be nice if i could just buy some cheap plug/cord...copy the files, disconnect and be done. thanks in advance for any answers.

That would be great but even if a dual IDE chain for laptop drives exist they may not last long due to the heat they will not be able to dissipate.

You can also buy a drive/drive enclosure for the expansion bay slot with Powerbook G3s; e.g. http://www.mcetech.com/xpebhd.html .

You definitely cannot run two internal drives. The IDE controller supports two drives: the hard drive and the optical drive already have both taken.

I agree with the suggestions for various external cases.

The G3 can have 3 "internal drives" 1 in each of the battery/media bays, but you would have to use and external battery.....or be satisfied with 2 internal drives!

PS(there is also a PCMCIA Hardcard available or firewire / usb as mentioned above.

Internal means inside the computer, non-removable. I don't consider the media bays under "internal."

Also, only the Wallstreet G3 allows drives in the left bay -- Lombards and Pismos only allow batteries in the left bay.
