Where can I find a battery for the ibook 500?

when I go to the apple store they have them, but they say for the 700 ibook and up.

But can I use those with the old ibook?

I looked on Apple's site and I didn't see anything about 700 and up. It says that it will work as long it is a dual USB. Where on the site did you look?

On the site, I agree it doesnt' say that either.

In the apple store, when I have looked at the battries, the one for the 12 inch say 700 and up.

When they switched the color.

My theory is they will work fine, just not match the color.

I'm with you on your theory. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work. I just wonder how it would look. Is there that much of a difference in the color?

I just got one for my 600Mhz dual usb from the Apple store. I ordered it under the accessories section 12inch iBook battery charging it now as we speak no problems yet. The box specifically says


"Compatible with dual-USB 12-inch iBook."

I have a 500..and I use a new ibook battery on it.

the only difference that I think is cosmetic..the 700's & higher have that cheaper plastic outer shell..so the battery doesn't blend into the laptop as well as the old one. But..it is on the bottom so its not a big deal.
