Alright, having issues with a colleagues 15" TiBook.
Just wondering if anyone else had had similar issues. Firstly the modem:
When attempting to dial the modem gives an error in the Connection console that /dev/eu.modem is in use and locked, and borks out. Same goes for when i try to less it. I cant find any processes which have active control over it, but when i delete the /dev object and recreate it, it still has the same problem. Now what im thinking is a dead modem. Anyone else?
Secondly, the DVDROM in this machine has suddenly stopped booting from bootable DVDs (setup and config discs). Apple have informed us that this is out of warranty and that the drive will need to be replaced... at a cost of AU$1200. All i can say is OUCH. Anyone know of a fix, or some cheaper drives. Its in Australia though, so im not sure how many readers are in AU.
Anyway, help would be appreciated. My first unsolvable problem in my new job as the mac admin here.
