I've just experienced my first system hang on OS X! I was working off battery and left the PB15 for about half an hour. On returning, the screen was blank, so I assume it had gone to sleep (as it usually does). However, I did notice that the pulsating light near the latch was not on. Anyhow, no key presses would wake it. Closed the lid and open - nothing. I did notice that the caps lock would light up when pressed and there was still light from my external optical mouse - therefore I knew it wasn't totally dead. But nothing would wake it, so I had to resort to holding down the power button. Anyone experienced this before?

If I'm not mistaken you can get the system back by plugging it back into the wall and waiting for a while for the battery to get back some remant of charge. Has worked for me in the past at least

This has happened to me twice in the past week. Only after installing Panther. No sleep light, no screen, just hard drive spinning. The only thing I could do was hard reset. It's not a dead battery or the sleep light would come on. I don't know what casues this but i don't like it.

I've had problems with waking from sleep (well, my 12" AlBook has, too ) ever since 10.2.8. One fix is to reset the PMU (also try resetting Open Firmware). However, after a few days, the problem recurs and I have to do it all over again. I really wish I hadn't installed 10.2.8.

See this thread.
