it wont let me log out or restart. Having no luck closing an application. Is there a ctril-alt-delete equivalent in the mac world?

command-option-escape force-quit got it!

Having the same prob with my new p/b with panther. Force-quit dosen't work for me. You just have to hole the start button for a while worse case scenario.

If you're not adverse to the Terminal, the command 'sudo shutdown now' works well also. Without the quotes, obviously.

Won't help you figure out what's wrong, but it will kill most any process that's preventing a shutdown.
