My old Lombard runs 2 displays slower when mirrored than when spanning--it's rendering everything twice, apparently! But when I play a game (or iTunes visualizer) mirrored, the internal display automatically blanks and all is well. The external display runs at full speed.
How about the new iBooks? Do they blank the internal display when gaming, or do you suffer a slowdown when gaming on an external screen?
BTW If you've run Unreal Tournement in Classic, that would be an interesting test of this issue.
