I've been surfing the web for a 15in LCD to use with a 12in PBG4 (revB). So far I haven't found any, so the question is, do they actually make them ?
From what I heard, DVI is much better on LCD's than VGA, is this true ?

Well, they are really rare.
The fact is, on a 15" LCD, the resolution isn't high enough for DVI to really make any big difference (although it does eliminate having to adjust it).
On a 15", you'll probably be fine with a VGA display. But if you want digital, Samsung (and no doubt others, too) makes digital 15" panels. (Samsung makes some of the best flat panels out there, FYI.)

thx for the reply so far.
is there an actual difference in image quality between DVI and VGA ? (ie. sharper image, etc)
as far as the LCD, I got to that conclusion, I was looking at this Philips panel, are Samsung's better ?

I thought I did answer the first question here: I don't think that DVI makes a big difference on a 15" LCD, if any at all. On large flat panels, it does help. So for a 15", I say no, no difference in picture quality. (For 17" and up, I recommend DVI.)
I happen to prefer Samsung to Philips, and Samsung's digital flat panels routinely get top marks in reviews in terms of image quality (and being affordable).

Planar PX171M-SI Silver 17" LCD Panel comes with both VGA and DVI Port. It can even be swiveled from Portait to Horitzontal. Dell was selling them this weekend for $311 shipped, I ordered one and will let you know how it is. It's normally over $500 for this Panel so for $300 I jumped on it, so hopefully I won't be sorry.

Unfortunately, there isn't any portrait software for Mac OS X, so unless you want the image rotated by 90 degrees, that's a useless feature.
AFAIK, Planar displays are good, but not great.

tooki is right, there is not much difference (as I can see with my eyes) in Samsung's showroom.
In Hong Kong here, Samsung does sell a 15" model with DVI input ( http://www.samsungelectronics.com.hk.../lcd/152t.html). I am sorry I don't know if Samsung sell this model in Viva Chile Mierda.

While DVI or VGA might not make a big difference on a 15" LCD with a signal coming from a desktop, you will notice the degradation coming from the Mini-DVI > VGA converter that comes with the 12" PowerBook. I have a Samsung 172t, and I hooked it up with the DVI and VGA to my Rev. B 12", and believe me, there was a difference. Much more of a difference than when I hook the 172t up to a PC with a 9700 Pro.
I would go with the DVI knowing that you will have to use the converter with the PowerBook. But, if you never know what you are missing, will you ever miss it?

but the mini-dvi > dvi would be fine, and it's only the mini-dvi > vga that is fuzzy, right?

Didn't Apple make a 15in DVI LCD many moons ago? The blueish purple looking one...

yup ... the low-end cinema (<-- ) display was 15, but it had an ADC connector, not DVI.

No, Sarc. Angus_D is correct -- there was an Apple 15" DVI display.
There was a 15" Studio Display (not purple [officially "azul"] or blue-and-white -- those were VGA -- but rather graphite to match the G4), released long before the Cinema Display, that used a DVI connector. This was about a year before Apple introduced ADC.

Yep...I have a graphite 15" attached to my sawtooth G4. It runs at a happy 1024x768
