is this possible? to do this would you need the spanning hack? would the lack of a dvi out affect the clarity of a larger resolution?

i'd really like to be able to use a 'book with a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse and external monitor for long work sessions. power is not that important to me, so if i could save some $ and avoid getting a powerbook i'd be fine with an ibook... *if* it could power one external lcd monitor with a resolution greater than 1024x768 *and* if the image were sharp enough not to give me headaches.

thanks

You'll need the spanning hack but you can just ignore the iBook's monitor.
Trainiable is to cat as ability to live without food is to human.

i guess i should be more specific. would the hack allow the ibook to operate in clamshell mode, and devote *all* 32mb of vram to an external monitor (at *greater* than 1024x768 resolution)? would the lack of dvi out be *really* noticeable at that greater resolution if the dot pitch of that external monitor were small/sharp enough?
