Yep, thats right, its having a whiff of xmas cake again. No idea really why, but it does.
Thinking of breaking out the brandy custard to go with it

Any ideas? We are thinking that its just overheating very badly. Crashing too....

EDIT: ergh, i posted in PowerBook not PowerMac, stupid me for trolling in here all the time.

I hate to say this, Takai, but I think your computer is dying. It could be almost anything, but perhaps the little DC converter board would be a place to start, especially if you have added a CPU upgrade. Maybe you should run it with the case off for a while and see if you can isolate the smell. Prop it up with books in the corners or something like that to keep clearance under it.

Dont worry, its not my computer.
I work as a mac admin/helpdesk for a uni, so its a researchers machine. Just went off to Apple for repair.

Isolated the heat/smell coming from the video card, so i think thats what's dying.

Basically the same as fruit cake, just add rum when you are making it.
